Hungary’s Adam Szudi, the no.5 seed, was beaten in the opening round by Norway’s Eskild Jorgensen in the closest match of the day (11-4, 11-6, 9-11, 5-11, 2-11, 11-9, 17-15) but then enjoyed no further success.
No doubt exhausted by the titanic duel, he was beaten in round two by Portugal’s Diogo Chen (11-9, 12-10, 11-4, 11-6).
